Balayage is a french word meaning to sweep or to paint. A technique that creates a natural sun kissed look, almost to mimic what nature gives us as children. Balayage is open-air processing and can be used with saran wrap and/or cotton instead of the traditional foiling method. This technique is great for someone looking for a low maintenance and less noticable grow out. This technique is not for someone wanting to go a lot lighter from their natural color or trying to lift through pre-existing hair dye.
Color Melting is one of the best ways to create that really natural blend with extreme results. This technique is used mostly on people who are trying to lift 4+ levels from their natural or pre-existing hair color. Teasing is involved to smooth the transition and put into a foil to help heat up the process of lifting to get the desired lightness.
Both are great techniques and can create various results. They can create ombre, sombre, highlights all the way to the root, or even going dark to create dimension. I analyze the hair and will take into account what the client is asking for, then customize the technique for each person.
